We are extremely excited to welcome from the UK two schools over the next week for sports exchange.
Central Newcastle bring 4 teams of lovely ladies for Hockey and Netball, they will arrive on Saturday night and spend three nights with us with competition over two days.
Nottingham HS arrive next Wednesday and will battle our red-hot under 15 tournament team and a combined 2nd Xv/under 16 team.
We have had particuarly good experiences with British touring teams over the past year, and I know that our community will extend a particularly warm welcome to these groups.
Thanks in advance to anyone that has put up their hand to host a student or two.
Jordan made it into the NZ football team!
woop woop!
International no. 15 this year I think
Can't find the press release on the NZ soccer website.
These are some photos from our first eleven girls footballs visit to the 'fighting fit' boxing gym last week.
They are a really good group, and I know that Steve found them to be so. This session was pretty funny at times, and perhaps the group have a few things to work on in their own time.
Anyways, Good times.
It's all too easy for these guys at the moment.
This is further to my spiel in assembly on Wednesday.

So, for the first time in my memory (although I havent seen every game) our 1st Xv finished a game much stronger than an opposition. And whats more, they rolled a traditionally strong 1st XV! (which we have only done thre times in the press cup era!) And by 34-14 too!
Next week our guys will smell blood as they face Nelson College, they will take this good win and go into next weeks game with confidence against a NC team that have now lost 3 times and are looking vulnerable. Our guys will play the game of their lives, mark my words.
A late brace on saturday by this guy>>
Put things out of reach for CC, and Ethans runaway try was the icing for a flattering 34-14 margin.
Earlier our superb under 15s rampaged onwards in a messy encounter against NC, played on a particularly greasy no. 2 field.
Three more tries from this guy>>>
...certainly helped.
Supercoach Gus Shirley is reluctant to accept all of the praise (until the trophies are in the cupboard).
Anyway, here's more photos, and next saturday is club day, I'll let everyone know when I source some cheap green face paint.
Refrained from doing so thus far, but i really do need to add some thoughts on the SISS Jr tournament played a couple of weeks ago.
In my opininon this is the 2nd hardest tournament to win on the island (after the senior version), and if you get to the business end, you clearly are the real deal. So to have both teams well in contention in the top 8 is a massive result, and earns us respect as a netball power amongst the high-profile girls schools.
Along these lines, it was totally awesome to sit there as both of our teams consecutively took apart Rangi Ruru girls' school in consecutive games on centre court. And of course there were many more highlights.
The way that the yr 10 comp wound up was a little disappointing, and I know that they are gutted, but from the schools perpective, we know that they were a better team than 7th, and great things will await these girls if they stay in the game. (but if we were being totally honest, Faye and Jenny deserved a little better, and i think they smiled through the pain a bit afterwards).
The year 9s overachieved in coming second, and it was totally heartening and a little suprising. I was so happy for Mandy and Helen as they wore their hearts on their sleeves all week. Again, many great performances from this (understrength) team. They really did sail into the final.
I'll highlight a few individuals that i enjoyed watching.
Zoe, Megan and Ella all made the talented players groups. They really did shine, and all of them made major contributions to their teams.
The B-team players that came up and did the goods really pulled their weight. Thats Katie, Haley, Anna and Spencer (who shone). These girls slotted straight in, well done.
Summer Roberts was outstanding on defence and did all that she was asked.
I thought Nicole Gardiner and Jordan Webby were unlucky to not make the TT. And hats off to Kelsey for toughing out her illness to make a controbution.
This is of course all my opinion, but these results do offer future promise.

This is the NZRU community rugby code of conduct. Have a look at it.
We have recently taken the unprecedented step of placing an internal ban upon a handful of players whose behaviour we feel was contradictory to the above document, and indeed our schools own standards on this matter.
We hope that all players will take heed that we are unwilling to tolerate lapses in sportsmanship of this magnitude, and will reserve the right to remove anyone from the field of play, that we deem to have trangressed in this way.
Of course this only applys to a very small percentage of you, and we are proud that in general, our schools athletes represent us in a very positive way.
Thanks for your attention to this.
